In August 2012 the first ever pay to play Facebook bingo game launched. Whilst other apps were free to play on the social media site unless you wanted to purchase more credits and/or power ups, Bingo Friendzy was the first real cash money game offered by Facebook. Less than two years later the app is closing along with Slots Friendzy, its sister brand.

A notification of the closure was received yesterday but prior to this we had no knowledge that the decision has been reached to pull the plug on Bingo Friendzy.

This is what the email said:

Last chance to play Friendzy!

You’ve only got until midnight tonight to play Bingo & Slots Friendzy before you sadly have to wave goodbye.
You can still withdraw your balance before then, plus don’t forget you can use your Bingo & Slots Friendzy login details to explore the fun at Jackpot Joy.

Best wishes,

The Customer Support Team.

The launch of Bingo Friendzy was surrounded with much controversy with debate upon debate as to whether it was acceptable for real money gambling to be available on a site used by teenagers. Additional the ASA scrutinized Bingo Friendzy following a number of complaints that the branding and design appealed to children. The complaints were not upheld following the response received by Profitable play.

Despite all of the controversy, Profitable Play plodded on with Bingo Friendzy but it would appear that it wasn’t quite the success that they had hoped and today is the last day that it will be available on Facebook.
