Charity Begins With Bingo This Festive Season 0

On Christmas Eve two news stories caught our attention because of their bingo links, stories of charitable donations from two big players in the land based industry (although both have online bingo sites too). Mecca Bingo, Devonport and Crown Bingo in Tyne Dock, South Shields both spread a little Christmas cheer recently and we know that these will not have been the only clubs to do so.
A number of staff and customers from Crown Bingo and a few employees from South Tyneside District Hospital all gathered gifts to give to Places for People. The charity then shared the gifts with a local women’s refuge and a children’s project.
The fundraiser was the idea of Marie Burrell who works at both the Crown Bingo hall and the hospital. It was supported by the owners of the club. [Read original story here].
Derriford Hospital was the grateful recipient of a generous donation of Christmas presents from Mecca Bingo. All of the gifts were donated by customers and staff of the Devonport club and included toys, teddies and books to suit all ages.
The Play Specialist at the hospital, Jo Cross, said of the donation “We are very grateful to the staff and customers at Mecca Bingo for this generous donation and for helping us to put some smiles on faces this Christmas.” Speaking for Mecca Bingo, Devonport Helen Carter said “I am amazed at the response we had from our customers and staff. It is really heart-warming.” [Read original story here].
